Field note, day 3
Sitjaroonsak Muaythai Gym: a visit
Sitjaroonsak Muaythai Gym, on the BTS at Bang Wa rather than in the tourist centre.
Ollie was there. Posted 2026-10-11.
What the visit showed
The way in is a red door numbered 200 on a back street off a canal. A young fighter is filmed fishing in that canal.
Training is in an open-sided shed under a pitched corrugated roof: one full-size ring, matted floor, bags hung from the roof beams, a weights rack to one side. Fans on the wall and no air conditioning.
A trainer named on screen as Ratanachai Sor Vorapin holds pads on camera and breaks down his own lead hook.
Banners for Supergirl and Wonder Girl hang over the bag area, each carrying championship belts.

Said by the gym
The gym's account, as the reel relays it, is that both fighters on those banners grew up training in that room and that the trainer holding pads is a former WBO world champion at boxing.
Not settled
What the visit did not answer
- What a session costs and what the schedule is. Nothing is published on a page we can read.
- Whether the gym spars, and how hard, which is the question that decides most bookings. The clip shows pads and bags and no sparring.
- Whether the accommodation it mentions is on site or a separate listing nearby.

The record
Sitjaroonsak Muaythai Gym
Filming a numbered series: finding the best Muay Thai gym in Thailand.
Ollie posts a numbered series on Instagram under a single title, finding the best Muay Thai gym in Thailand. One gym per entry: turn up, train the session, put up what it was like. The account bio reads "muay thai enthusiast", not fighter, and that is the accurate description of nearly everyone who flies here to train. It is also the reason the series is worth reading rather than only watching.
We publish these visits as field notes because the rest of this site is a desk. Every rate here was read off a gym's own website on a dated day, which is a real thing to know and not the same thing as standing in the place at six in the morning. The gap between those two is most of what somebody booking a month actually wants.
