Two camps in Chiang Mai, set against each other on what each one publishes about itself. Nothing below is our opinion of either.

Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba)

Lanna publishes a rates page, but the figures on it are not readable as text, so there is nothing here we can quote. The timetable is published: mornings 8 to 10 and afternoons 4 to 6, Monday to Saturday, with private training bookable between 7 in the morning and 7 at night. Rooms on site run from shared bunks to singles.

Santai Muay Thai

There is no single-session rate: the shortest ticket is a 700 day covering both sessions. Private is 600 for Santai students and 800 for a drop-in. Two weeks is 6,500, three 9,000, three months 29,000, a year 100,000. Accommodation is eight guest houses near the gym rather than on it, quoted by the week from 4,000 with training included.

They quote the same figure on 2 lines: sessions a day and takes beginners.

What we cannot tell you yet

Neither camp has been confirmed on the lines below, so this page does not compare them. They are named rather than left off, because a comparison that only shows the fields it happens to hold is the shape of a page pretending to be complete.

  • One group session
  • Room, per night
  • Sparring
  • English spoken
  • Women's programme

In their own words

What each camp is

Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba)

One of the oldest foreigner-facing camps in the north, with a genuine competitive lineage behind it. Facilities are old-school rather than polished, which is exactly what draws the people who choose it.

Santai Muay Thai

Set outside Chiang Mai city in San Kamphaeng, which makes it a training-first stay rather than a city one. Long-standing reputation with foreign trainees who want structure without the scale of the Phuket complexes.

What people ask about Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) and Santai Muay Thai

Every figure below is read off the two records at build time rather than written by hand, so a question neither camp has published anything behind is left out instead of answered softly.
What is the difference between Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) and Santai Muay Thai?
One of the 3 lines both camps publish comes out different: whether there are rooms on site. They match on how many sessions a day run and whether beginners are taken. Santai Muay Thai publishes a week of unlimited training, a month of unlimited training and a private session. Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) publishes none of those. What separates two camps on the mats is the trainer you get put with, and no camp publishes that. Use the lines above to cut the list down, then ask both.
Is Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) or Santai Muay Thai better for a beginner?
Both. Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) and Santai Muay Thai each read as a room somebody who has never trained can walk into. That is a call made at a desk from what each camp publishes about who it trains, not a verdict from the mats. A gym built around a fight team will take a beginner's money and leave them holding pads at the back for a month, so ask both how a first session actually runs before you book either.
Can you stay at Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) or Santai Muay Thai?
Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) only. Santai Muay Thai says it has no rooms, which is a checked no rather than a blank. Neither nightly rate is published, so the room line stays blank rather than get estimated off camps elsewhere that do print one. Staying in means the commute stops being a decision you make twice a day at five in the morning, which matters more than the saving on most trips shorter than a month.
How many sessions a day do Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) and Santai Muay Thai run?
The same number. Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) and Santai Muay Thai both run 2 sessions a day. That is how many are on offer and not how many anybody should plan on taking. A timetable says when the door is open; how many times you walk through it is most of the difference between a training holiday and a camp, and a first week of doubles is how people spend a second week injured.
How far apart are Lanna Muay Thai (Kiatbusaba) and Santai Muay Thai?
About 13 km in a straight line, measured between the two pins rather than along a road, so a motorbike covers more ground than that and traffic decides the rest. Both camps sit in Chiang Mai. That is a ride rather than a walk, so trying both in one trip means picking a base and paying to cross, or splitting the stay in two.

Every figure on this page came off a camp’s own website on 2026-09-02. Camps change prices without changing the page the price is printed on. If one of these is wrong, or if you know a line neither camp publishes, tell us and we will date the change.
