Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan

Every price on the site is stated as including seven percent VAT. The lines above are the Muay Thai pass, which also sells two weeks at 5,500 and ten classes at 4,000. Gold Membership adds every other class, the ice bath and the open gym for 1,250 a day, 5,400 a week and 12,500 a month. The private above is the trainer rate; a named head coach is 2,000 or 3,500 a session. Six months is 70,000 and includes gym documents for a visa application. Gear rental is 100 a session. The bungalows on the gym grounds carry no published rate.

Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness

Everything is sold in two columns, once a day and twice a day. The week and month above are the twice a day column, which covers both published sessions; once a day is 2,000 a week and 7,000 a month. The 400 is a single day at once a day, so it buys one session. Longer twice a day tiers are 25,000 for three months, 45,000 for six and 84,000 for a year, against 20,000, 36,000 and 60,000 once a day. Privates are 700 an hour, 3,000 for five and 5,000 for ten. The fitness floor is priced separately, from 200 a visit to 10,000 a year, and a bundle of one month in the gym with ten Muay Thai sessions is 3,500. Muay Thai runs 08:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 18:00, Monday to Saturday.

Against the country

Each line runs from the cheapest figure listed camps print for that rate to the dearest, with Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan marked above the line, Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness below it and the stretch between them inked. In baht, Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan first, then Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness: one group session at 450 and 400, 50 apart inside a run of 550 that 31 of 44 listed camps print; a week, unlimited at 3,300 and 3,000, 300 apart inside a run of 3,700 that 21 of 44 listed camps print; a month, unlimited at 8,800 and 10,000, 1,200 apart inside a run of 14,001 that 26 of 44 listed camps print; one private at 1,000 and 700, 300 apart inside a run of 900 that 22 of 44 listed camps print. Rates only one of the two publishes are left out, because a line carrying one mark says nothing about two camps.

They quote the same figure on 2 lines: sessions a day and takes beginners.

What we cannot tell you yet

Neither camp has been confirmed on the lines below, so this page does not compare them. They are named rather than left off, because a comparison that only shows the fields it happens to hold is the shape of a page pretending to be complete.

In their own words

What each camp is

Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan

A multi-discipline academy at Woktum running two Muay Thai sessions a day, with a separate all-access membership covering the other classes, the ice bath and the open gym. If Muay Thai is all you want, the Muay Thai pass is the cheaper way in and the membership is not worth the gap. Three bungalows sit on the gym grounds without a published rate. It also sells a six month membership that includes documents for a visa application, which says plainly who it is built for.

The full record for Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan

Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness

A Thong Sala gym with a fitness floor attached and the most granular price list on the island, running from a single day to a full year in two columns, once a day and twice. The long tiers are where the price per session collapses, so it suits somebody settling in rather than passing through. Two bungalows are listed with no rate and no stated location, so treat accommodation here as unknown rather than on site.

What people ask about Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness

Every figure below is read off the two records at build time rather than written by hand, so a question neither camp has published anything behind is left out instead of answered softly.
Is Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan or Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness cheaper?
Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan, on the line most trips are booked on. A month of unlimited training is 8,800 baht there against 10,000 baht at Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness, a gap of 1,200 baht. They both quote 3 other priced lines, and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness is lower on 3. A cheaper month is not a cheaper trip. Food, a room where the camp has none and the flight home all sit outside these figures, and a camp that is 2,000 baht dearer a month is the cheaper of the two the moment it saves you a daily taxi.
What is the difference between Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness?
4 of the 6 lines both camps publish come out different: a single group session, a week of unlimited training, a month of unlimited training and a private session. They match on how many sessions a day run and whether beginners are taken. Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan publishes whether there are rooms on site and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness does not. What separates two camps on the mats is the trainer you get put with, and no camp publishes that. Use the lines above to cut the list down, then ask both.
Is Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan or Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness better for a beginner?
Both. Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness each read as a room somebody who has never trained can walk into. That is a call made at a desk from what each camp publishes about who it trains, not a verdict from the mats. A gym built around a fight team will take a beginner's money and leave them holding pads at the back for a month, so ask both how a first session actually runs before you book either.
Can you stay at Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan or Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness?
Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan says you can sleep at the camp. Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness publishes nothing either way, so that line stays blank. Neither nightly rate is published, so the room line stays blank rather than get estimated off camps elsewhere that do print one. Staying in means the commute stops being a decision you make twice a day at five in the morning, which matters more than the saving on most trips shorter than a month.
How many sessions a day do Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness run?
The same number. Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness both run 2 sessions a day. That is how many are on offer and not how many anybody should plan on taking. A timetable says when the door is open; how many times you walk through it is most of the difference between a training holiday and a camp, and a first week of doubles is how people spend a second week injured.
How far apart are Martial Arts Academy Koh Phangan and Phangan Muay Thai & Fitness?
About 2.9 km in a straight line, measured between the two pins rather than along a road, so a motorbike covers more ground than that and traffic decides the rest. Both camps sit in Koh Phangan. That is a ride rather than a walk, so trying both in one trip means picking a base and paying to cross, or splitting the stay in two.
